It’s all about position in soccer and Val has the anticipation thing down as this header shows. Salt Spring United Div2 women went on a bit of a scoring spree early in the second half to defeat Div1 Prospect Lake 4 to 1 on Sunday.

Sanneke enjoyed her time at the High School and on the soccer field. After a brief Olympic stop in Vancouver, she’s headed back home to Holland. There, among other things, she’ll be a student advisor for the International Ed. program in the Gulf Islands School District.

Keeper Erin Hornell makes a big stop in Women’s Div 2 soccer. She was kept busy as Lakehill Thunder hammered the net relentlessly. The league leaders beat the local team 3 – 0. In the next match Salt Spring defeated Lakehill Reds 2 – 0 with Sue-Anne Donaldson scoring both goals.

The score is tied 2 – 2 with less than a minute left in the game. Salt Spring forward Oliver Cannon makes this awesome cross past the flying Juan de Fuca defender. The pass is perfectly headed (almost) at the goal mouth. But it glances off the post. Game ends in a tie.

A rough and rainy soccer game became a goal fest late in the second half. Salt Spring’s Gremio, a Division 4C team in the Vancouver Island Soccer League, overwhelmed the Vantreights 8 to 1.
